EastEnders star Danny Dyer called Katie Hopkins a "daft sexist" after she poked fun at the news that his long-term girlfriend had proposed to him.
Hopkins said: "No woman should ever propose to a man. Certainly not one with a naff bum-fluff beard and dodgy squint." She asked the actor if he was "too emasculated to say no".
She compared it to the US case when Lorena Bobbitt sliced off her husband's penis, saying: "Dyer's girlfriend went the full Lorena Bobbitt; being proposed to removes a man's genitals."
The actor, who plays Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter in the soap, hit back, comparing Hopkins to actor Wilfred Bramble, who played the scruffy father in Steptoe And Son.
He said: "No I agree... especially when you look like ya face should be on the side of a gothic building... have a nice day ya daft sexist ya."
He added:"And no man wants his wife to have the look of Wilfred Bramble either... strange old world innit."
Dyer announced his engagement to Joanne Mas in Hello! magazine, saying it was "a complete bolt out of the blue".
He said: "I'm so glad she did it because I don't think I could have taken the rejection. I love the fact Jo proposed."
Dyer and Ms Mas, who were childhood sweethearts, have three children.
She said: "I've always wanted to marry Danny and I decided that if I didn't get things moving, it would never happen.
"I never wanted to get married when the children were babies because I wanted to let my hair down and enjoy the day. But we have had our little boy now and we're not going to have any more, so the time is right."
